Dan and Tara
Dan was born in Alameda, CA and moved to Santa Rosa when he was 5. Although he has lived in other parts of California while attending college, he has always considered Santa Rosa his home. Tara was born in Rochester, Minnesota, but was raised in Fountain Hills, Arizona.
Dan and Tara met while they were both attending Hope International University. They were introduced through their roommates. Dan’s roommate, Jacob, was dating Tara’s roommate, Heather. Because of this, both Dan and Tara were hesitant to start a dating relationship. But, they did eventually begin seeing each other and were married on May 24, 2002.
After marrying, Dan and Tara moved to Santa Rosa and Dan worked as the Youth Pastor and Worship Leader at Sonrise Christian Church in Windsor. A year later they returned to Southern California to allow Tara to complete college.
Dan and Tara have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Addison and Brooklynn.
In 2005, Dan and Tara decided to take a leap of faith and move back to Santa Rosa, even though they had no jobs waiting for them. It was also their prayer that Dan would be able to be hired by the Santa Rosa Police Department to fulfill Dan’s desire for a career in law enforcement. In December of 2006 his dream became a reality! Dan is now a police officer.
When Dan and Tara moved back to Santa Rosa, they started coming to New Day because Dan’s parents (Steve and Evelyn) had been attending here for 2 years. Dan began serving at New Day by playing in the worship band and Tara works with our 2-5 year olds in the Movers and Shakers class. Dan also occasionally preaches at New Day and serves on the board.
