Loving God, Loving People, Doing Life Together

Kindergarten - 4th Grade Children’s Ministry

Ministry Approach:

The best place for children to grow in Christ is at home, listening to and watching their parents. Long ago, God said this through Moses:

“These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:6-9 (NIV)

To help you bring God’s word to your children, we focus the children’s ministry on three areas:
  • We teach in Sunday school from the same scripture passages that are used in the adult sermon. This way, you and your children are prepared to share and apply the same lesson that you learned in church!
  • We send home family resource pages each week, related to the same shared Bible passages, with kid-oriented activities for you to use in teaching your children.
  • We involve parents in teaching Sunday mornings. It is important for our children to see their parents actively involved in our children's ministry and it is also a good place for parents to learn how to teach the Bible to children. Regular attenders at New Day should expect to serve in the children’s ministry about one Sunday every two months.
We keep the children both happy and busy learning through rotations of Bible stories, prayer, games, art, music, snacks, and drama.

So, expect to be stretched not only by the adult worship and sermon each Sunday, but also by applying your learning throughout the week as you instruct your children and give them living proof of your faith in Christ.

Ministry Goals:

To provide parents with support, encouragement, and participation in the spiritual growth of their children.

Sunday Morning Structure:

To ensure the safety and security of your child we expect each child to be signed in and out by the same person. This person does not need to be the parent, but must be someone authorized in writing by the parent or legal guardian.

Your children will begin their Sunday morning with you in worship. Our hope is that this will provide an opportunity for you and your children to grow while singing together. On the first Sunday of each month the children will be coming into the adult service during the final song to join their families during the communion and offering time.

Things we cover every week:

Sharing Time - Children are encouraged to bring their Big Idea cards back and share what happened last week, as they tried to apply the teaching in their lives.

Prayer Time Children are encouraged to share prayer requests, then pray for each others’ requests.

Snack Children are provided with a small snack each Sunday. Please fill out the child profile at the sign-in desk so that we can ensure to avoid any food allergies.

Bible Lesson – Children are presented a Bible story that connects with the Big Idea for the day.

Big Idea Cards - Children are encouraged to come up with practical ways to apply the Big Idea to their life during the week. The card will have the Big Idea and a memory verse printed on it. You can encourage your child's learning experience by reviewing this card with them during the week as you work through the family resource.
