Giving

Giving reflects a grateful heart and attitude towards God.  Individuals and families give generously and joyfully every week to continue the ministry at New Day.  The Bible says where you spend your money, your hearts will be there as well.  As a church family, we consider it a privilege to give our money to such a worthy cause.

How Can I Give?

You can give to New Day in various ways:

  • Give Online: It's easy to give online now by clicking the "Donate" link above.
  • Set-up Automated Online Giving: You can submit your tithe and any additional financial gift through your personal bank's online bill payment service.  Indicate "New Day Christian Church" as your payee, specify your name as the account, and use the following information for the payee address: New Day Christian Church 149 Stony Circle Ste 210 Santa Rosa, CA 95401.  Your bank will send New Day your gift, and we will record it toward your giving records just as if you had written the check yourself.  This is a safe and easy way to arrange for your regular and joyful giving.
  • Give During Sunday Worship Services: We receive tithes and offerings each week during our Sunday morning services.  We ask that you use the offering envelope provided in the program so we can record your giving for tax purposes.
  • Send Your Gift Through the Mail: You may mail your gift to our church office with the heading "attention bookkeeper" to 149 Stony Circle Ste 210, Santa Rosa, CA 95401.

A note about credit cards...

While we allow the use of credit cards through paypal for tithes and offerings, we strongly encourage the use of bill pay method rather than credit cards for two primary reasons:

  • Although many pay off their credit cards each month, some do not.  We do not want to encourage someone to go into debt and pay interest on gifts given to the church.
  • With automatic bill pay, your entire gift goes to the church.  When using a credit card, as much as 3% of your gift can go to the credit card company.

What is Giving?

Financial giving at New Day can generally be divided into two categories: tithes and offerings.  The Bible teaches that one of the ways we worship the Lord is by our giving a portion of our income to the church on a regular basis.  Below are specific steps one can take in their giving to God.:

  • First Time Givers: These are people who choose to give to God for the first time.
  • Regular Givers: These are people who give on a regular basis.
  • Tithers: The word "tithe" means tenth or 10%.  In the Old Testament people would tithe the first tenth of their income back to God.
  • Extravagant Givers: When we feel called to give over and above our tithe, we do so as an offering.

Why Do we Give Back/Tithe?

The Old Testament shows us that the purpose of tithing is to teach us always to put God first in our lives (Deuteronomy 14:23).  Tithing is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything we have.  It is also God's personal invitation to an outpouring of His blessing in our lives.

In Malachi 3:10, God says, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.  Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw upon the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."  Giving back to God is one of the only places in scripture where God dares us to trust him.

In the New Testament, giving to Jesus is directly related to your relationship with Him.  He asks us to trust Him with all aspects of our life, including our finances.  Putting Him first in our finances is a huge step in declaring Him lord of your life.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 says, "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."  We choose give joyfully not because we have to, but because we want to.

Giving also cures us from the disease of materialism.  Each time we give, we are saying, "I am not ruled by my stuff."  In a world full of consumers that only take what they can get, those here at New Day strive to be contributors and be people who give.

What Am I Giving To?

The ministry of New Day is provided by God's provisions through the tithes and offerings of faithful New Day members and attenders.  At New Day we honor God's provision by exercising wise and faithful stewardship, ethical business practices, and full accountability so that the financial integrity of New Day remains beyond reproach.

The money spent at New Day can be broken down into four general areas...

  • Missions/Outreach: This includes local and global missions and causes that focus on reaching and meeting the physical and spiritual needs in our local community and throughout the world.  A list of some of our outreach partners that New Day is involved with can be found here.
  • Personnel/Staffing: This includes the compensating the paid staff within the church.
  • Facilities/Operations: This includes money for our facilities, insurance, utilities, and other expenses that occur with the ongoing ministry of the local church.
  • Ministry: This category is used to help support and improve the various ministries at New Day.

Each gift to New Day is received and handled with the strictest confidentiality and a record of your giving will be provided to you for tax purposes at the end of each calendar year.
